Quality without compromise – meet our inspection team

In demanding industries like nuclear and energy processing, there is no room for uncertainty. High-pressure piping systems require precision down to the smallest detail. At Recion, quality control isn’t just a final check – it is a process integrated into the entire prefabrication cycle.

The inspection team at Recion ensures that all components leaving the Ylivieska factory are safe, documented, and ready for installation.

“We follow the product during the whole process,” explains Tommi Pudas, QC Manager at Recion. “Our role is to ensure that every delivery fulfills not only standards like PED, ASME, and API but also the quality requirements of our customers.”

Quality control and traceability

To ensure full traceability of all materials, procedures, and personnel, the inspection process includes activities such as:

  • Verification of materials and material certificates.
  • Verification of welder and inspector certificates.
  • Overseeing forming procedures, welding specifications, and heat treatments.
  • Continuous collection of data throughout the manufacturing process.

NDT och final inspection

The complexity of advanced piping lies in the details that cannot be detected by visual inspection alone. The team utilizes established NDT methods such as Magnetic particle (MT), Penetrant (PT), Ultrasonic (UT), and Radiographic (RT) testing to ensure the materials meet all internal and external quality specifications.

Before delivery, a final inspection of both the physical products and the complete documentation is performed to guarantee that every requirement is met.

Recion’s team of experts

While the technology is advanced, the strength of Recion’s inspection process lies in the people. The team consists of Level 2 inspectors with SFS-EN ISO 9712 and ASME qualifications as well as a documentation specialist.

“What makes me most proud is that everyone in the team is an expert in their field who works independently and takes full ownership of their tasks,” says Tommi.

From a customer’s perspective

For the customer, this translates directly into project economy. When pipes arrive at the site, they are ready for installation. There is no need for extra on-site inspections, which saves both time and costs. More importantly, it provides peace of mind – knowing the system will last its planned operating time without unexpected maintenance stops.

“Quality to me personally means that we take responsibility for the result,” Tommi concludes. “At Recion, we keep what we promise.”
