Welding and installation

Our welding capability, expertise and experience at Ylivieska workshop is something to be proud of. We have over 50 years of experience welding different kinds of pipings. Our Welding Procedure Qualification Record (WPQR) includes over 1000 procedures. Our processes are MAG, TIG, FCAW, SMAW, SAW and TIG Orbital, preferring mechanical welding when possible. Bending

We have five cold bending machines at our workshop in Ylivieska. With these machines we can bend pipes (or bars) from DN15 up to DN200. See tooling list for our cold bending machines here.

What makes us unique at bending possibilities, is our induction bending capability. We have three induction bending machines, with capability of bending pipes from DN32 up to DN900. Wall thickness can be up to 90mm. Induction bending is a very flexible method enabling bending of vast variety of products with virtually unlimited bending radii.

With over 40 years of experience of induction bending we have manufactured tens of thousands of parts for various applications such as: power boilers, recovery boilers, main steam piping, turbine piping, feedwater piping, nuclear power plants, petrochemical plants and refineries, on/offshore oil & gas, bridge beams, structural components, artwork and architectural decorations. Heat treatment

There are four different-sized heat treatment furnaces at our workshop, with the possibility to reach up to 1 200°C temperature. We can also perform local heat treatments and increased welding temperatures. Our possible heat treatment methods are Stress relieving, Normalizing, Tempering, Quenching, Stabilization and Solution annealing. See our furnace capabilities here.

Forming

We have two large scale hydraulic presses with over 500tons capacity at our workshop; vertical press and horizontal press for pipe end forming. With this capability, we can manufacture concentric by hot forming reducers for pipes and hemispherical ends from plates. Machining

There is an impressive selection for piping machining at our workshop, including: Roaching machines, Manual and CNC-controlled lathes, Beveling machines and Drilling machines. With these machines we can manufacture welding bevels, drilling of chamber holes, bodies of T- and Y-pieces, and saddle surfaces for branches. This enormously improves the quality of prefabrication and decreases the groove volume and time for welding.

For cutting we have band saw, flame cutting and plasma cutting machines for pipes, and for plates we have flame shape cutting machine.

NDT and documentation

In most of our work, material traceability and NDT documentation are a must. We have built up systems and methods for these, and we also have possibility to report directly to the customer’s system.

We have our own NDT unit at our workshop, who can perform Radiographic examination (RT), Ultrasonic examination (UT), Magnetic particle inspection (MT), Liquid penetrant examination (PT) and Visual inspection (VT) for our welds and components.

Surface treatment

Our surface treatment unit consists of wet painting and hot-dip galvanizing services with grit blasting capabilities externally and internally. You can read more about hot-dip galvanizing here.
