At Recion, our long-term goal is to be as carbon-neutral as possible. And while the journey towards lower emissions is ongoing, we’re proud to share some encouraging progress: we managed to reduce our total emissions by 3.8% in 2024 compared with 2022 calculations.
A major factor behind this reduction is our factory in Ylivieska switching to 100% CO₂-free electricity, completely eliminating emissions from electricity use. A simple change with a significant impact.
Another recent initiative is the introduction of electric forklifts, replacing the previous petrol-powered models. These will help reduce fuel use from 2025 onwards, while also supporting a more circular approach through our leasing model.
“Being responsible also means looking after the environment,” says Minna Törrönen, Quality Manager at Recion. “By minimizing our environmental impact, we are doing our part for the future. Environmentally friendly choices can deliver even better solutions in practice and sometimes even without significant additional cost.”
Looking ahead, we’re developing a low-carbon roadmap within our surface treatment unit, a project designed to identify new opportunities to reduce emissions even further.
Each step, from electrifying equipment to rethinking our energy use, brings us closer to a future where our operations leave a lighter footprint on the planet.
